Shout out to all students who attended the careers briefing last Thursday,we hope that all of you had gained information that will help you for next year before or post-results. Anyway, just wondering because not all who signed up through email came for the briefing so I'm just wondering whether you signed up for the briefing or for the teacher assistant position that I posted. Please state clearly in your email why you are providing your details to me.
Also, to students who signed up their details for BSP scholarship but did not provide your qualifying results, please do so via email.
Not to mention, I am officially on leave today!!! I will be back from the UK on 17th so if any of you emailed me, please be patient till I am back in Brunei to reply. To SMSAnians in the UK, when are you coming down to london so you can all treat me for hot mocha? :D

Can you smell the fresh air? the free-polluted surroundings? Yes, it has been a VERYYYY long academic year but phew! it is finally December! So what's your plan? lounge around at home because you deserve it after 2 years of torture and suffering from A levels? That's one option or you can be productive and start working on and preparing for next year. To those of you who have recently finished your exams..think about what your next plan of action is> continue your studies? work? get married? what is it????!!! You and ONLY you are able to answer that :D
I have been receiving tons of email after my last post and thank you to all students who have emailed or made the efforts to come to school to visit us and ask questions regarding options for next year.
I apologise for not replying to your mails sooner as it has been a hectic week and also hotmail is not working properly so I'll be replying your mails via my yahoo account.
The careers office will be open during the holidays from 1st to 8th December 2012, 8.00 am - 12.00 pm. So please feel free to drop by for consultation and such at our office (WE HAVE MOVED!), first floor Library.
By the way, if you are unsure of what courses or universities to apply for, please do visit us as we are giving away brochures and prospectuses for FREE so first come, first serve.
Please regularly check this blog for updates over the week
A week left before the
last term’s holidays woohooo…I know that PreU2 students have recently finished
their A level exams. You are now free to do whatever you want during the
holidays but we would recommend not to laze around at home or procrastinate too
much. For some of you, you have applied for the courses of your dreams such as
Medicine. However, most of you must still be dreaming, not knowing exactly what
to do from the moment you finish A levels.
There are a few options
for you all as the expected date for the release of your results will most
probably be mid-February 2013, I would suggest the following:
1. Prepare your individual
CVs for anyone who wishes to work during the holidays: check local newspapers
for vacancies (full time and part time jobs)
2. Also sign up to local
institutions for voluntary work such as social services or community work in
Pusat Ehsan or KACA. This will ensure your care for the society and will
definitely look good on your CV. We have limited application forms for these.
3. Dig up and photocopy
all your relevant academic and ECA certificates to prepare for HECAS
application that includes SCHOLARSHIP, UBD, ITB, UNISSA and POLYTECHNIC. (more
info will be provided on where to submit)
4. If you are thinking of
applying to study to UNITED KINGDOM either via scholarship or privately, please
collect the reference form from our careers office yourselves (not through anyone
else!) so we can keep track of who is seriously applying..The reference form
should be given to your tutors as soon as possible.
For such applications, you
need to apply to UCAS i.e through SMSA. To do this, you need a buzzword which I
can give you if you see me personally. The first deadline for UCAS is 15th
January 2013 as most universities will not have any places after this date so
if you are thinking of studying in one of the top universities, please don’t
waste your time and get started on your application. Please visit the careers office for list of top universities.

Friday, 20 April 2012
Good evening people...
This is just to remind the participants of the mock Malay oral interview that there will be a feedback session tomorrow where we can discuss the interview in details and also give you feedback on your strengths and weaknesses. This is also the time when you can ask questions that we can help you with for the real interview.
As I predict that there will only be some of you who are coming thus, you can just meet us at the Careers office as we are available from 1pm onwards. Don't worry, this time it will only be an informal session.
I'd like to confirm that there are now 8 students who signed up for the 'training session'. Details are as follows:
Day & date: Thursday, 19th April 2012
Time: 2.00 - 4.00pm
Venue: MUSIC ROOM
Please arrive in school before 2pm so I can arrange the order for your turn as it will be a first come first serve basis.
Also, to those who were involved in the previous interview session, would you like to attend the feedback session this Saturday where we can discuss and inform you of how to improve your weaknesses, etc. Email me if you agree to attend the session. As of today, only one has emailed me that you'll be attending the session on Saturday.
