RESULTS DAY is here!!

You have been texted. You know your results.

Listen carefully, I want students to stay calm and focused. Here is what you need to do:

For those who didn't do well (Grade Cs and below):

1) Come to school asap & register for your June A Level 2012 Examinations. It is, however uncertain at this point when the statement of results will be available in SMSA on Saturday. I will inform you here as soon as I receive word.
Take note: If the students want to register for June A level exams, they need to attach a photocopy of their IC with their forms. Also, if they want to carry forward their marks from their previous sittings, they need to photocopy the statement of results/certificate of their previous results

2) You still have another chance at improving your "A" Level results. All is not lost. It's ok to grieve but it isn't ok to wallow and be fatalistic & forlorn about your poor results.

3) What you can do tonight is to organize your study materials; Organize all your files, exam papers & notes. Borrow the top students' notes. Get yourself prepared to study for your June exams. This way, instead of crying copious tears into your pillow or your milo, you can do something productive. I know you don't feel like studying. I know you don't want to look at those notes and books ever again BUT.... I need you to focus on something other than your poor grades. Do it now, when other students are wallowing in self pity and clucking around a.k.a. "lost headless chicken syndrome"

4)Give yourself a few days and perhaps start studying immediately. Attack all the past year exam papers and time yourselves. You have to organize your study time and be disciplined about it. Your motivation? Yourselves. You want a brighter future right? You want that degree right? So push yourselves.

5)Don't go and FB or call up friends who have not done well. Keep yourself positive and away from miserable people. It would be impossible for you to shine and be happy in the company of those intent on commiserating about their poor grades. At the end of the day, talk sense to yourselves. You cannot go back in the past and change anything. You will drive yourself crazy with the "WHAT IFs?". Move forward. Aim to be better in the future.

6) It isn't the end of the world. Take it as a challenge and stand strong.

For those who have done well: Grade Cs & Above

1) Well done! Good job! Don't worry about the scholarship courses & applications.Do await MOE instructions. They will advertise it out in the local newspapers or via RTB. Don't fret. You will be given specific instructions of what to do and where to go.

2)Citizens- interested in applying for overseas scholarship- do some hard core research on the courses and universities via the UCAS website. For SMSAnians, you need to get the SMSA confidential report form so that the Careers Dept can start on the confidential report for you. All UCAS applications from the Ex-Pre U2 (Batch 2010-2011) will be processed through the SMSA Pre U Careers & Higher Learning Office. You are not encouraged to go through education agents.

3)Don't worry about the courses at ITB, UBD, UNISSA and Brunei Polytechnique. They will advertise these courses out soon enough. You will get the latest and most relevant information directly from them.HECAS will inform me when they will start the registration for all students interested in applying for higher education.

Lastly, I will be on standby via email. Feel free to ask questions. Hang in there all of you!!!Remember, the Careers team will be here for you...
